‘Net Neutrality’ Buzzword for Regulating Internet

By Driscoll

To The Editor:
We are in the greatest danger of our lives and possibly of our history. Censorship is on the horizon. “Net Neutrality” is the buzzword for regulating the Internet and multiple factions are gunning for talk radio. (If you wish to investigate for yourself, call your congressman for help getting information on the legislation being introduced.) Regulation brings control to those in power. Do you want others to control the information you receive? Ever heard of Tass, or Pravada? If you have not awakened to this danger yet, you better start now because your willful blindness will bring you a future of regret – regret that you stood by and did nothing while “Rome burned.”
Like a cat scratching the furniture, the enemies of our freedom are tearing at our Constitution little by little, yet faster and faster.
These enemies would shut down our freedom of speech, freedom to worship, freedom of the press and every other freedom granted us in the Constitution. If we fail asserting our rights, they will become like unused weapons, tarnished and dull.
Greek mythology provides an excellent example of standing firm against aggression. Homer wrote the Odyssey. The hero of that tale gives us a role model to emulate – Odysseus, King of Ithaca.
After wandering the world for close to 20 years, this ancient Greek hero finally made it home. He found unwelcome suitors were overtaking his palace and forcing his wife, Penelope, to choose from one of them as her new husband. When Odysseus discovered what had been happening, he managed to ensnare these thugs in a trap. Once caught, and knowing that Odysseus was about to slaughter them, one of the thugs asked Odysseus to temper his anger. “What have we done? – Yes, we took your food and wine, but we did not kill anyone – what is our crime that you would kill us?” Odysseus calmly sat down on his throne and stated, “Your crime is that you tried to steal my world. My world that I built with my own two hands with sweat and hard labor.” With clarity of purpose and without hesitation of conscience, Odysseus took his legendary bow and destroyed the whole room full of evil intruders.
These intruders on our shores would steal our world. I do not speak of races, or religion — I speak of mindset. Those who want to push socialism, communism, and, yes, even sharia law, are the unwelcome intruders. Their members include not only new comers but also natural born citizens here for generations. However, those who love and defend our freedoms are also new citizens as well and natural born. So who are our enemies and how do we recognize them? We spot them by seeing what they desire to accomplish – to replace our Constitution with other governmental systems.
We are Odysseus. Penelope is our Constitution. Our bow is the founding principles we were given by a generation who knew God and his Commandments. Our arrows are the God-given rights declared in our Constitution. Like Odysseus, study your weapons and learn how to use them with skill and conviction.
