My Daughter Chose Life

By Name Withheld, Seaville

To the Editor:

As a young married couple, we learned we would not be able to conceive children of our own. We were, however, fortunate enough to adopt two babies.

Growing up, we spent a lot of time together, and always let them know how special they were because they were a gift from God to us.

Both children are now grown-up and attending college. Recently, our daughter came to us with an unexpected pregnancy. Because of her convictions, termination of the baby was out of the question. Realizing how difficult it would be to be a young, single parent, she decided to give the baby up for adoption.

In the recovery room, after our daughter had given birth, my wife commented: “my baby girl is now a mother!.” Being the joker in the family I said: “We finally found something you’re good at: making beautiful babies!.”

Later, when we were alone, and had time to talk, I told our daughter that all I could think about was the day we brought her home from the hospital. We were so excited and thankful.

Now, she is bringing that joy to another couple. After all this was over, we must admit, we raised one remarkable young woman!
