Over the years there has always been talk of ‘watch out for shore contractors’!. We’ll I now know how it feels first hand. After putting out work for bids I hired a contractor in May of 2009. I checked the NJ construction website and found this contractor to be listed as license current and paid.My Mistake was to not look and see if he were bonded as well.
After treating the contractor like a brother for almost a year….you guessed it ! He stopped doing work and stopped taking calls.
Buyer Beware is not enough. There ought to be a law!!! The worst part is some of the work done was not to code and unsafe as well. I did however find another local contractor to redo and complete work I had already paid for and they did an excellant job passing inspection.
