Illegal Undocumented Workers
Right now there’s something happening in America that needs to be addressed and quickly .Running a landscaping company for 25 years I’ve seen it firsthand. Illegal workers hired by companies and paid cash under the table are destroying people’s livelihoods and businesses’. How can someone who has legal documented workers and pays them wages of up to 16.00 dollars per hour compete with companies’ who hire and pay illegal’s sub minimum wage cash with no taxes, state or federal reported. You give a bid on a project and these companies come in and underbid by thousands of dollars because they carry no insurance on these illegal workers liability or workers compensation and that lowers their cost significantly along with the matching social security state and federal taxes they save you can’t compete. I hope property owners wise up and realize when they hire these people that if these illegal workers are hurt or injured on their property they can be held responsible as their employers have no insurance coverage on them. These types of practices have caused many people I know to go out of business as they can’t compete with these practices anymore. I know of at least one instance where an illegal worker got hurt and is now suing the condo association at the property he was working at, as his employer had no worker’s comp. insurance on him. Someone in our government has to stand up and fight for the small business man put an end to this.
