In response to Georgia Makiver’s letter about President Bush’s “Mission Accomplished” banner and photo being displayed by the time these missions were accomplished, please check the dates. “Mission Accomplished” banner displayed on May 1, 2003.
Saddam Hussein was captured on May 13, 2003.
First democratic elections were held on Jan. 30, 2005 and the new constitution was ratified on Oct. 12, 2005.

CORRECTION
A letter in the June 20 issue by Al Burston said the date of Saddam Hussein’s capture stated it was May 13, 2003. Burston contacted the Herald with a corrected date: “It was actually Dec. 13, 2003. I don’t know if this was a mistake on your part or mine but this is the correct date.”
