Military Survivor Benefit Plan for Disabled Dependents

By Anthony De Angelis, Villas

To the Editor:
Evidence exists that many retired military personnel, perhaps some in Cape May County, are encountering great difficulty in finding help to establish a Special Needs Trust geared to the Military Survivor Benefit Plan for a disabled dependent. Moreover, little or no guidance has proved forthcoming from the military or supporting organizations.
Having enjoyed an outstanding reputation confronting and overcoming complex problems, but only to find myself flummoxed dealing with this area of concern, it occurred to me that less experienced individuals were in a virtual jungle when looking for help. Fortunately, after years of extensive research, and with the good help of Court House attorney Edward Foster, I finally was able to realize resolution in achieving such a trust for our disabled son.
Hopefully, this information will benefit others similarly disposed so they, too, can achieve the same peace of mind that I now enjoy.
