To The Editor:
If you do a Google search and type in “May 21, 2011,” you will be given a list of media clips and websites proclaiming the evidence for May 21, 2011, Judgment Day. This news is spreading through out the entire world.
At first, most are skeptical of such an audacious claim, however, upon further examination, this is not just another apocryphal prediction. What sets this information apart from all other predictions is the fact that all the evidence comes from the Bible exclusively, which was completed approximately 1,900 years ago.
The Bible indicates that no one could know the day nor hour of Judgment Day until the “book (The Bible) was opened” and the “seals were loosed,” or illumination was possible.(Revelation 5:1-5, 8:1) The Bible predicted this knowledge would be made available near the end of time. (Daniel 12:4)
An important key to unlocking the Bible was the understanding of the Biblical Time Line of History. The Bible is actually a calendar and the genealogies of Genesis 5 and 11 have been correctly understood to give us precise dates for Creation in 11,013 B.C. The Flood in 4990 B.C. The Exodus in 1447 B.C., Christ’s Birth in 7 B.C., His Death and Resurrection and the beginning of the Church Age in 33 A.D.
The first time clue that points us in the direction of the end of time is when the Nation of Israel became a nation again in 1948. A fact that was incredibly prophesied by Christ in Mark 13:28. Another time clue is the “falling away” (II Thessalonians 2:3) of the corporate, external church throughout the world. This is evidenced by the tremendous change that has occurred within the churches over the last years as they have adopted false doctrines that are contrary to the Bible. (II Timothy 4:3) The Bible refers to this time as the “Great Tribulation,”(Matthew 24:21) and it is spiritual in essence, not physical, social or political. The Churches attempt to identify with the Bible, however, God has brought a spiritual famine of “hearing” the Word of God within the churches. (Amos 8:11)
In II Peter 3, the relationship between the flood and Christ’s return in judgment is clearly established in the context of the Chapter II Peter 3:8, “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day [is] with the Lord as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.” This is a unique call to attention regarding this verse that is missed by a casual reading. We compare this with what we find in Genesis 7:4. “For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth 40 days and 40 nights; and every living substance that I have made I will destroy from off the face of the earth.”
The tie in between the flood and Christ’s return has already been made in the context of II Peter 3. God associates one day with a thousand years. Take seven days and add one thousand to each and it is seven thousand years. The flood occurred in 4990 B.C. add 7,000 and we arrive at 2011, (minus one for no year 0). As Noah as his family found safety in the Ark from the Wrath of God in 4990 B.C., God is cryptically telling us, that humankind would have 7000 years to get into the safety of Christ, ending in 2011. Genesis 7:11, “In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.” The second month and 17th day of the month of the Biblical calendar of Noah’s day is May 21 of our present calendar. This is not contrived, nor mere coincidence.
This is one example among many of why May 21, just 35 days away from this letter, must be seriously considered by each and every person.
