To the Editor:
This is mainly directed to the youth of today, but I am sure others will appreciate it.
Within a small log cabin, far from society, in the backwoods of Maine, my thoughts become serious as the fireplace crackles with the logs burning hot.
Each one of us has a purpose in life. Have you thought much about this? Are modern technologies getting in the way of thinking deeply on subjects which are more important than vanity, being noticed, or an abundance of material things?
Our short time spent on this beautiful earth is a gift from God. Our time here varies. I believe that whatever time you and I are allotted we should strive to discover our purpose and then work to achieve it. Working and living with a purpose enables us to “leave our mark” in life and enriches those around us and those who follow us after we are gone.
I believe being a good parent is one of the most important purposes a person can have. You have given life to another human!
Those who do not become a parent are given a particular purpose in God’s plan. It is up to us to discover our meaning. Many have. It may come through inspiration or from someone telling us what they see in us, but it is there.
We all have struggles. Life is not without detours. Keep the negative from drowning you. Accept help when needed and give help to others. We are all here for a reason!
Your occupation may not be your purpose or it just might be. If you feel your purpose is to express art, go for it! If you feel your purpose is to add humor to life, go for it, and get on stage!
Let your clear thinking and gut feelings lead you to discovering your purpose. You will become much happier and a lot more at peace with yourself when you find your “meaning.”
I found my purpose years ago. My mark in life will come because of my writings about life. My future books will show this!
For those reading this, I hope you take some quiet time and think deeply about my words. You can use the best computer there is; your own brain created by God.
