To The Editor:
It is with great interest that I read Al Campbell’s Compass Points of July 28, “Don’t Know Where You Live?” in today’s Herald.
In my opinion, certainly Lower Township deserves its own ZIP Code instead of sharing “six ZIP Codes” with far lesser communities.
It is no wonder that cost for postage is forever increasing.
Just one example of inefficiency is having very large mail trucks struggling very narrow one-way streets to make it to the post office in Cape May each evening, where there is no place to park, only to have over 80 percent or more of them come back over the bridge to Lower Township.
There are many other inefficiencies that can he cited. In addition, this presents problems for municipalities, especially by businesses which cannot properly identify the municipalities in which they are located. For example, if two adjacent municipalities each have their own health deportment, but only one has it’s own ZIP Code, and someone gets deathly ill in a restaurant, the wrong health department would be the sole one to contact.
