To The Editor:
I’m writing about a wonderful small school in Cape May County, Cape Educational Compact, or as often referred to, as last chance school.
It provides a setting that is different from that of a standard high school for children that are always in trouble, on drugs or can’t function in a normal high school for various reasons. Each student starts with a clean slate. They do not want to know their past. They assist each student in recognizing that he/she is truly unique, while enabling each successful student to complete all the requirements for a standard high school diploma. Every year senior dinner of 18-20 graduating students are celebrated by the principal, Mr. Newell, the teachers, staff and parents. As parents we have shed many tears in the past out of fear and disappointment, but this night many tears flowed of gratitude for the school that accepted, thought and helped these now amazing young adults to fulfill their dreams. I am very grateful for this school in every way, and it should be recognized for the work it has accomplished for the last 15 years.
