Kids Love to Play Marbles

To the Editor: 

The National Marbles Tournament will roll into Wildwood for its 99th year in our seashore community June 20. Marble clubs will arrive with their club champions from all over the country.The tournament is the longest running kids’ tournament on record.  

At the end of four days of fierce competition, there will be a girl champion and a boy champion. 

For the last 10 years, marbles have been a part of the Wildwood after-school program and has an average of about 60 participants a year. Once the youngsters learn how to play the game of ‘ringer,’ they love it. 

Marbles is a classic kids’ game. At the end of the school year, we have a tournament to get our best to enter them in the national tournament. We are the only New Jersey participants and there has never been a New Jersey national champion. 

Come and cheer for the local kids.
