To the Editor:
I have given much thought to voting Nov. 8. At first, since electorally my vote won’t count, I thought I’d stay home. But that’s an attitude which reflects the “winning is the only thing” mindset of partisan political types. Throwing up my hands and not voting is ambivalence, not an expression of my opinion.
But it’s important to vote, first because it’s our right of free expression which needs to be exercised to remain viable. Second, I believe history should accurately reflect the opinion of the American electorate so candidates who slip by with the electoral vote don’t get a skewed notion of the true sentiment of the electorate which the popular vote reveals.
So I will vote for Trump, not because I am happy with him. Rather because Hillary Clinton is the embodiment of the dishonest, shamelessly-ambitious, power politician that’s pernicious cancer on our democratic republic.
That said, I hope maybe this helps others navigate their way through this perplexing, unsavory segment of our nation’s history. At the least, it’s one person’s idea of the landscape.
