To The Editor:
Recent tragic violence in Iraq is further proof that the United States is not capable of controlling the Middle East countries with all their problems. Some of these problems were their own and some were precipitated by our wrongly blaming them for “9/11” and all the death, maiming and destruction that followed.
It will be a repeat performance in Afghanistan as more years pile up. Vigilance and protecting our shores is the solution. Soon, we will be entering 10 years of our soldiers’ sacrifices, killing innocent civilians, drone bomb destruction and more bitterness towards our country.
If the Taliban is chased out of Afghanistan, they will return to Pakistan to regroup. How long can we go on wasting young lives and tax money on a never-ending war?
Humanitarian, peace-making skills would cost a lot less and surely be more effective.
