Health Care is Our Right

By Denise Miller, West Cape May

To the Editor:
As a senior citizen with hypothyroidism, wife to a husband with heart disease, stepmother to a 26-year-old Type 1 diabetic, and daughter to a mother with severe Alzheimer’s disease, I am saddened by the heartlessness of our congressional representatives and their supporters regarding health care. I do believe that it is every citizen’s right to have comprehensive health care. It does not matter to me what it is called. What matters to me is the health of those I love.
The United States of America was founded as a refuge for those not welcome in their country of birth. They came here and worked to create better lives for themselves and those they loved. They succeeded. We are now one of the richest countries in the world. Health care is our right.
