To The Editor:
Mayor Glen Glembocki took it upon himself to start a rumor during the Dennis Township Committee Meeting on Nov. 20. Not happy with simply slandering fellow Dennis Township residents he decided to libel them as well by publishing his comments on his Facebook, “DT News for You,” page. He said, “While we don’t typically respond to rumors, since these rumors were being spread by former members of the Township Committee, among others, I thought it was appropriate to set the record straight. There is no plan to layoff members of the Recreation Department staff. ”
By making such a definitive statement, the Mayor must be certain that former members of the Township Committee are spreading rumors about layoffs. He must have solid evidence and irrefutable proof, otherwise why would he say such a thing? As a former Dennis Township Committee member, I believe his comments are directed at me and former Committeeman, Brian O’Connor. If not us, to whom is he referring?
Needless to say, his allegations are completely unfounded. Furthermore it is troubling that the mayor and others in his administration have taken it upon themselves to use the ‘bully pulpit’ of public office to defame and criticize township residents who dare to disagree or challenge them. Having served six years on Dennis Township Committee, I know firsthand that it is no fun to be beaten up in print or by unhappy residents during public meetings. But if Glembocki and others don’t learn to restrain themselves, not only will they be looking for another job next November, they could be looking at a lawsuit.
