I am really amazed, when looking at what is happening to our country right now. Two or three people, with at best incomplete science, can shut down, in just a few days, the greatest country in the world. They did this with a minimum of push back from elected officials, from the press, from lawyers, and anyone else.
In an interview with the governor of New Jersey a few days ago, he was asked what about the United States Constitution and the violation of our rights under it? What about such things as our freedom of religion, freedom of assembly, freedom of speech? He replied, “The Constitution is above my pay grade.”
This man took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and now it’s above his pay grade? Sure, we are living through a crisis, but there have been many prior and we didn’t shut down the country and give up our rights. What he imposed was tantamount to house arrest.
We have so many of our young people fighting for our rights and many give up their lives, or are seriously injured. They have done their part; I believe we must do ours. We must be vigilant and push back. This is still the greatest democracy in the history of the world and we must keep it that way, even when it is very difficult.
What is transpiring currently is “group think.” History has proven the consequences many times of group think.
Avalon – This economy is tough for everyone. Think I might have to sell my beach house! A good problem, but still forced.
