To the Editor:
Does your paper edit what is published on the Opinion page? You would never publish an anti-Semitic comment. It would be hate speech. Yet you published an offensive and Anti-Christian comment on Oct. 9.
The writer from Sea Isle should be ashamed.

Editor’s note: What in fact is hate speech? Just because another person finds someone’s option offensive does not mean that the expressed option is inappropriate. If one said, “That child should be whipped for speaking to a teacher like that.” If you don’t believe in spanking children, would you call that hate speech? Or, if one said, “People who don’t work should not eat.” Would you call that hate speech? It may seem hateful, but the person saying it may genuinely be of that opinion.
