To The Editor:
Couldn’t it be divisiveness within our population? We didn’t have this problem in the 50s, 60s and 70s to the extent we have today. I can’t excuse the 60s, whereas we had a (war) divisiveness as opposed to today’s right-left outright hate. We had calmness with Eisenhower, hope under JFK and progress with LBJ. With Nixon and Ford, we had leadership.
Let us examine the movements beginning in the 1980s. Specifically the right vs. the left politically, and aided by political consultants such as Lee Atwater from South Carolina. Remember Willie Horton? This was a brainchild of Lee Atwater. He died at age 39 seeking forgiveness. He also produced people such as Karl Rove, a student of his.
It is a firm belief that Atwater opened the floodgates for the breeding of the Limbaughs, Hannities and Becks. This is the kind of thing that has been undermining our country for a very long time. They create enemies, smear people and ruin lives by their actions.
We have journalists on both sides of the spectrum, but these people are not journalists. In fact, the three mentioned are uneducated buffoons.
This country had better get its act together soon or there’ll be no country left. That’s to say politically, economically, spiritually, and so many other ways. Tell me this, why is it these “Great Americans” have never served this country?
May God bless us all, but why should he or she?
