To the Editor:
Cape May is one of those places that are great to live in as long as you have already made your money. It is difficult to make enough money to last a year when the large majority of the local economy is geared toward a 90-day season. That is especially true when you consider that a significant part of the tourism revenue leaves the local economy due to out-of-state and remote landlords.
I’m not in favor of giving up on the tourism industry by any means. I am in favor of a more diversified economy.
A variety of businesses and industries in this area will help everyone. If more people are able to earn money outside of the tourist season, they will no doubt spend it on some things that are typically tourist items, like restaurants, and entertainment. They will be more likely to hire contractors for maintenance and repairs on their homes and cars in the offseason.
It will not be easy to diversify the local economy, but it appears now that nobody is even trying. Danielle Davies and Greg Wall are committed to putting in the effort needed to diversify the local economy.
That is why I am supporting Davies and Wall for freeholders.
Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
