I’ve been reading all the Spout Offs about Dennis Township. They keep hitting on the same things, but then they throw in their support for John Murphy and Brian O’Connor. I like both these guys, but to argue that they should be put back in charge of the township is crazy.
The spouters are complaining about maintenance of our public buildings and blaming it on the Republicans who have been in office for less than two years. Come on. The Democrats were in control of Dennis for decades. John Murphy was mayor from 2007 through 2011. Where was the maintenance program for all those years?
The spouters complain about not having a noise ordinance. As I recall, when Murphy was Mayor the township committee drafted a noise ordinance and then refused to adopt it. The spouters complain about Mike Donohue, the Republican leader, being the solicitor. At least Mike lives in the township, pays taxes here and has kids in the school and the rec programs. I’d much rather have someone like that representing the town. When Murphy was mayor he had the Democratic State Committeeman as his solicitor who didn’t live here and didn’t pay taxes here. But apparently that political appointment was OK with the spouters.
They also complain about ATV problems. They have been complaining for years and Murphy and O’Connor never did anything about it. The new majority on council actually passed an ordinance so that the state police could issue tickets in Dennis, but that wasn’t good enough for the complainers.
The spouters are constantly claiming that there is no code enforcement in Dennis Township. That isn’t true. The code enforcement officer was laid off and the duties went to the construction and zoning office. In case you haven’t noticed, there isn’t a whole lot of construction going on in Dennis and we have a full time and part time employee in that office.
The new majority on township committee found a way to do the job at less expense to the taxpayers. The spouters are obviously friends of the guy who got laid off. It is sad that they are willing to try to make our entire township look bad for their personal reasons.
Dennis Township is a great town and a beautiful place to live. The spouters should be ashamed of themselves. Mayor Glembocki and Brian Teefy and Frank Germanio have the township headed in the right direction and Jennifer Hand will be a great addition to the team.
Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
