‘Demolish Old Gas Station’

‘Demolish Old Gas Station’

By Lee Marcotte

To the Editor:
If only Lower Township Council would spend as much time getting the old gas station on the corner of Bayshore and Ferry roads demolished, as it labored to control dogs on the beach, they would be removing an eyesore that does not speak well of the township.
This property has been abandoned for over a year! This intersection is heavily traveled, not by locals, but the thousands of out-of-town travelers who use the Cape May – Lewes Ferry and Garden State Parkway in their travels.  They must think this is a depressed area with officials who don’t seem to care.  I am sure there are ordinances that regulate abandoned and run-down buildings that have deteriorated to this extent, creating a slum appearance.  Let’s go council, leave the dogs alone and do something meaningful!
