Commission on Women Conflict

By Gallagher

To the Editor:
I can’t believe the person who wrote the Jan. 5 letter concerning Kathleen Bresan and Freeholder E. Marie Hayes does not see an ethical and maybe even an illegal transaction there.
When the chairperson on the Advisory Commission on the Status of Women purchases items from her husband, eventually she will profit $600 from the transaction. And the former chairperson, Kathleen Bresan sees no problem with her husband profiting $600 in a transaction where she picks the vendor? I think a course in government and business ethics should be given to the next chair of the commission. And she also justifies it by saying she has been doing the same thing since 2007? I want to thank the County Treasurer, the County Counsel Bakley-Marino and Freeholder Hayes for taking the action they did to put an end to this situation.
