City Built Their Own ‘Counterfeit’ Gazebo

To The Editor:
A lot of readers have called me telling me that I should respond to the recent Spout Off and to let everyone know that I had a permit since 2000 for the gazebo, and that they should go to www. savetheseaislecitygazebo.com to see the facts for themselves.
The people said this person sounds like the mouthpiece of the city, and the locals that live here year round know exactly what is going on. People have also told me that the city cannot tear down a gazebo that is 14.98 feet; that is under the 15 feet. And that survey was read Oct. 11, 2010.
It is now coming up for a year since I last sent a letter to the editor and the only thing that has changed is that the city has built their counterfeit gazebo at JFK and the beach, exactly where they kept threatening to put mine. Someone said to me once they clear the trees that gazebo will be a constant reminder to everyone who drives over the Sea Isle City bridge of what the city has done to Louise Clemente.
I am still being fined by the construction official, Cornelius Byrne, $1,000 a week, which is now over $44,000, and I haven’t received anything from him or the city to the contrary.
As far as the sign on my entryway, that is a private property sign. A lot of people have them. It’s to keep people off the property.
So many have told me, “We know the city’s agenda. It was to take the gazebo any way possible to put it at JFK and the beach for Mayor and Freeholder Leonard C. Desiderio’s own political gain, and now that he has built his counterfeit he is doing everything in his power to destroy the gazebo that represents your late husband and your good memories of Sea Isle and is under 15 feet.”
I ask that readers go on the website to see for themselves. The gazebo did not make this public, it is the situation that the city made that made it public and remember that no one knew what the city was doing to me and the threats. It was the one threat that was witnessed that brought this all out to the light.
