Chemtrails: Look Elsewhere for a Conspiracy

By Pattantyus

To the Editor:
This is in response to the person who wrote a letter to the editor about GMO’s and chemtrails. I will make this simple: there is nothing in airplane chemtrails to warrant conspiracy theories.
As an atmospheric scientist who specializes in atmospheric chemistry I have read many papers about the contents of chemtrails and the effects of chemtrails. Sure, it’s probably best not to put some of those particles in the air (aluminum, sulfate) but harmful, at those doses, they are not. Is it worth worrying about? No. The fact you look up and see chemtrails in Cape May County are because we sit on a major flight path along the most densely populated coast of the country.
Chemtrails don’t always last a long time up in the sky; the lifetime of chemtrails is controlled by winds at flight level. Rarely there is no wind at flight level but when this happens, chemtrails will linger because they are not being dispersed or mixed out. Most of the time there are winds at flight level that immediately distort and mix the chemtrails so that they disappear almost as fast as they form. The particles that are ejected in airplane exhaust fall out of the sky slowly over the course of a few days and often fall through clouds where they can become seeds for tiny cloud droplets that grow into rain. This is all physics. Nothing defies explanation and there definitely is no conspiracy amongst the government and airlines. Please don’t espouse psudo-science here or anywhere, it is quite vulgar.
