To The Editor:
In answer to the Court House Spouter asking “Does the Vatican provide services for married couples who cannot afford food, diapers and medicine?”
The Catholic Church provides all kinds. We have five food pantries here. Catholic Charities provides diapers, furniture for babies, along with some housing assistance for them. Convent House helps further to find employment. The Christ Child Society helps with everything needed, even a handmade layette if a newborn dies.
Natural Family Planning classes are taught as a substitute for birth control. Some children who cannot afford school tuition and uniforms are given help with these services.
Senior citizens also have social services provided. I could go on and on, but this hopefully will give you some information. If you yourself need help, please call any Catholic Church for more information.
