Cape May County Needs Public Transportation

By Dirvin

To the Editor:
We need public transportation in Cape May County. The Fare Free does not work for working people. Its wonderful but not everyone gets the benefit. I do not want the benefit, I want to work. I cannot bicycle to work; I wish I could. And I should not have to risk my life cycling or walking in traffic to get to work.
I see people walking places where they should not be. I see people wanting to work. I see young adults who cannot afford cars. I cannot ride to Atlantic City and back to get to route 47 to get to Woodbine to work.
I see disabled people who want to return to work but have given up hope. There is a will and the Board of Chosen Freeholders can make a way. What would happen if you put in some more buses? Maybe we would have less pollution, less traffic, more employed people. Maybe we could stop with the mindset of the 1970s where cars were everything and enter 2014 … or can we just go back to horses. That would be way cooler and more Victorian but I would still feel bad for those horses amidst all those shoobies.
