To The Editor:
Now that the election is over, I want to express a sincere thank you to all of our volunteers, and to the voters who believed in me. I also congratulate Susan DeLanzo and wish her well, because our township’s success depends so much on the leadership of those of our governing body.
My campaign spent much energy on research that allowed the public to see where their tax dollars are spent. All the information on my web site is factual, and I hope these efforts will be a continuing reminder to the mayor and committee to cut the waste.
My statement after the vote that “I was relieved” should be kept in context. I was relieved that the election was over; while I worked very hard to give you a new direction on the Township Committee, for whatever reason, there were persons working for my opponent who continuously tried to make the election personal and, frankly, misleading. Again, though, it is important now to go forward with the positives, not negativity.
I dedicated 18 years to this great township that I love, and was willing to return and dedicate the time needed to reduce property taxes – the single biggest threat to our unique community life. It was a sacrifice that I was willing to make. My beloved family didn’t want me to run because they know how nasty it can be, but they, too, were willing to make that sacrifice.
Each of us knew that being part of the process is what it’s all about. So, I thank and commend my volunteers and the voters who wanted change – every effort that you made did send a message that our governing body will have to keep in their mind as they now pursue their duties. Godspeed.
