Butto Letter Short on Facts

By Crippen

To the Editor:
I find Al Butto’s letter on Sept. 26 about unfair Spout Offs to be curious. I wonder how he arrived at his conclusions.
The Murphy administration managed the township through the same (if not worse) financial times that the Glembocki administration has. However, unlike Butto’s friends, Murphy’s administration navigated these stormy seas without raising local purpose taxes or causing dissension within the ranks of the township employees as Mayor Glembocki has.
A dedicated code enforcement officer was also on hand to deal with the daily issues that the township encounters. Butto’s assertion that the building inspector—with no code enforcement interest or experience—has filled in just as well is a fallacy. The township building inspector is extremely qualified in inspecting all aspects of construction but code enforcement is not what he was hired to do.
Butto is wrong in his assertion that the Murphy administration did nothing regarding ATV issues. In fact, changes were made to township ordinances that clarified where ATVs could and could not be ridden and allowed for the state police to fine and/or arrest offenders. ATV opponents, however, did not think enough was done and continue to push a ban on ATV use on residential properties.
As for his critique of prior appointments, Butto ought to be be criticizing himself. With only a year’s experience on the former Zoning Board of Adjustment he was appointed as the chairman of the newly formed Consolidated Land Use Board while far more qualified and experienced members were passed over.
The shame that Butto says Spouters should feel ought to be directed at Mayor Glembocki, Deputy Mayor Teefy and Committeeman Germanio. They have lied and conspired in their attempts to push personal agendas and back-room deals through… much to the detriment of Dennis Township as a whole. If the voters want to get Dennis Township back to normal, the choice is simple: On Nov. 5 elect Murphy and O’Connor for Dennis Township Committee.
