Bonuses Are Too Small?

By Davis

To The Editor:
I agree with my fellow Avalonian’s Spout Off of March 10: The bonuses bank executives and other corporate CEO’s are getting as huge as they are, are nevertheless too small.
If the trickle-down economic theory is valid, the sad state of our economy and the jobless rate demonstrate that these bonuses are not large enough to create prosperity for the rest of us. We are not providing sufficient assistance to the wealthy.
However, I disagree that the only remedy to this dilemma is bigger bonuses for wealthy executives. In order to optimize the impact of the trickle-down theory and maximize the benefits to the rest of the American people, we should give the wealthy the biggest tax break possible — pay no taxes at all.
