Author Has Issues with Story

By Ashman

To The Editor:
As president of the Stone Harbor Republican Club, I want to respond to the inaccurate statement in the “Stone Harbor’s Giulian Resolves Business Tax Issues with the State” article published in the Aug. 5 Herald.
The article states, “He was not endorsed by the Stone Harbor Republican Club when seeking its support in the primary.”
Giulian never approached me nor our SH Republican Club seeking our support.
In March, the SH Republican Club announced that we would hold a meeting on May 6. The purpose of this meeting was to provide our Republican Club members the opportunity to hear from candidates running for Borough Council in the June Primary. All candidates were invited to present their views and respond to questions.
Giulian chose not to come to this meeting. On June 2 he chose to file a petition to run as an Independent candidate in the November election.
I expect Giulian to publicly correct this inaccurate statement and any other inaccuracies or to demand the Herald to correct the facts if he was misquoted by the Herald reporter.
The Stone Harbor Republican Club is proud to aggressively continue its stated functions:
To recommend candidates for endorsement to represent the Republican Party at a Primary Election.
To foster and encourage loyalty to the Republican Party and to promote its ideals.
To support objectives and policies of the Republican National Committee.
To collect, analyze, report upon and disseminate factual information concerning governmental and political affairs.
To cooperate in the election of the Republican Party’s nominees.
To promote the principles of freedom, equality and justice on which the government of our country is founded.
