Author Appreciates Column on Marching Band

By Costanzo

To The Editor:
I read with interest Al Campbell’s column on marching bands. The Panther Marching Band is a legend in Middle Township High School. The success of this marching band was accomplished only by the devotion, dedication and sacrifices of its members over the years. The sacrifices were endured because the end justified the means — first-place banners and trophies.
It was nice of him to mention our band in his column. We are definitely a group of people who enjoys playing music. America’s musical heritage is “concerts in the park” and marching bands. The primary purpose of our band is to perpetuate this musical heritage. There is enjoyment in accomplishing this goal. Our present director is Richard Ludwig who was responsible for many of the Panther Marching Band’s trophies and banner over the years.
