To the Editor:
Tuesday, Nov. 2 is the most important election for us in Middle Township. Many of you know that Mike Voll is a long-time resident of Rio Grande, and we have had the privilege of him serving us as our mayor and committeeman for 18 years. During his time in office, Rio Grande and all areas were treated equal. He strived to keep Middle Township “a Clean, Safe, and Caring Family Community.” During the years since he left office, I noticed that Rio Grande and other sections of the township have changed so much.
When Voll was our mayor, he helped so many people and that’s why I feel so strongly about this man. Like most, I was shocked to see how high our taxes have risen over the last four years, 52 percent. The poor senior citizens got no increase in their Social Security, at a time when his opponent should be cutting expenses; the committee wastes our tax dollars on pay-to-play contractors, consultants, and law firms; I read where his opponent has authorized over a half a million dollars on these people we don’t need.
Also, his opponent wanted to bring something they called “Work Force Housing” to Rio Grande. What an insult to our community. Rio Grande has always been a community of hard-working families, trying to make ends meet, and providing a better life for our children. No matter what name they gave it, we know it was subsidized housing. Thankfully many outraged residents turned out to stop that project, but it could return.
How about Fort Apache next to Menz Restaurant? Committee purchased this property for over $1 million that hasn’t provided any recreation for our children and adults. Then in 2009, his opponent authorized the purchase of the old firehouse behind Township Hall for $1.2 million. It had one appraisal, valued at $1 million that was appraised in 2006. During this recession, this is wrong to be spending our tax dollars wastefully.
I am asking my family and friends to vote for Mike Voll, a dedicated proven leader, so he can stand up against these types of costly and wasteful projects, and bring fiscal sanity back to our community. I don’t like how much the demographics have changed over the last decade.
Please vote; our community’s future is at stake.
Cape May – The number one reason I didn’t vote for Donald Trump was January 6th and I found it incredibly sad that so many Americans turned their back on what happened that day when voting. I respect that the…
