To The Editor:
Last week the Herald printed a letter from Sherman Miller about getting stuck in the parking lot on Feb. 22, a very dark and stormy night. Just to let you know, Miller, (my Dad), is 91 years old and doesn’t walk well, especially at night.
He had driven me to the emergency room earlier that afternoon. I kept asking him to go home, knowing that it was getting late and was raining out. He refused to leave me there alone. By the time it was determined that I was going to be transferred to Hospital University of Pennsylvania, he finally relented and went home.
Knowing that the weather was bad and that it was dark, I was worried sick about him getting home. I kept calling the house until he finally answered and said he’d gotten home okay. He never mentioned his adventure in the parking lot of the hospital.
Although he is very independent and self-sufficient, sometimes he gets into situations like he did on that night. I would just like to add my sincere thanks to the woman who helped him out. To be so selfless and brave, to help a stranger in a dark parking lot, just blows my mind. Thank you so very much. You made a difficult situation a little better. Miracles do, indeed, happen every day.
