I was in school today
Not far from home I thought.
My school was my haven
For learning everything I could.
For socializing with my brothers and
My sisters I could not ask
For anything better.
I was in school today like any
other day.
Not a thought or care in the world,
just another day.
I never said an unkind word or bid
anyone that was different, ill.
We were together talking when chaos
came walking in the room.
Because these certain kids were not
popular and everyone shunned their
way of life, their rage and hate
spewed from every type of weapon
they could carry.
The shock of disbelief of death and
pain was evident in everyone’s
hollow face.
The shots would not stop nor would the
screams of fear and dying.
I was in school today, but somehow
I never made it home…
