To the Editor:
The most pleasant thought for Americans will come through in January 2011 … for those hoping for progress and good orderly direction (GOD) the White House, as well as Congress will be in Democratic control.
We no longer will have to listen to trash talk of 2,000-mile-long walls. No longer hear of good guys killing bad guys with some of the 300 million guns in our country. The gun industry has made a virtual fortune at whose expense? We no longer will have to listen to indirect criticism of our military by incompetents with bluster.
We have economic problems, but nowhere near those of 2008. The gridlock will be broken both in Congress and on the Supreme Court. New Supreme Court justices will eventually allow future progress to move forward. With unified leadership, meaning three branches of government cooperating just imagine what can be done.
We will have a chance to change the tax code, thus unfavoring the 1 percent. Furthermore, do you know it will require $5 trillion to correctly build our infrastructure? When was the last time we even attempted such a feat? Probably during the Eisenhower administration.
Today we have failing roads, bridges, tunnels, airports, treatment plants, and a grid system in need of correction. Haven’t we wasted about $5 trillion on unnecessary wars? All things considered, America has a chance to be safe again, grow again, thrive again and prosper again. Think about the possibilities, not the alternatives.
America is the greatest entity in the world and must be kept that way. We must build bridges, not walls. We must take a quantum leap forward not backward. The possibilities are unending when the voters make the correct decisions in November. The alternative: more gridlock, wars, inequality and backward ‘progress’ – resulting in dysfunctional thinking by dysfunctional people.
