To The Editor:
At the regularly scheduled West Cape May Commissioners meeting, which took place May 12, I was both applauded and criticized for my comments. I delivered these comments during our meeting to, in a very public forum, attach my name to my comments. I wished to demonstrate courage, the courage of my convictions and to ensure that my comments would be attributed to me and me alone.
This was done in contrast to the recently exposed actions of Commissioner Ramsey Geyer over these past months. My questions for Geyer concerning his anonymous posts, using a fake alias, include: Why anonymously? Why dishonestly? Why for so many months? and why the personal attacks? Resident John Rowley, who was one of those who spoke, had previously posted online, “Posting by ‘Anothergreatidea’ would have credibility if ‘Anothergreatidea’ was not a fake alias for a political crony of West Cape May’s administration. Same goes for “Getoverit.” This post followed a Cape May County Herald article, “Cape May to West Cape May: Don’t Respond to Our Fires.”
Rowley, apparently, as does Geyer, wants it both ways. When others use a fake alias, they have no credibility; when Geyer uses a fake alias, “he should be paid attention to.” Even as I write this letter, Geyer has not responded as to why he took the course of action that he had other than to state that “his anonymous comments were intended to get West Cape May residents to wake up and pay more attention to what is happening in government.” this was stated in another newspaper — what hypocrisy. My course of action last night was intended to do just the opposite, and again in a very public way, as it should be. And I still believe that the residents of West Cape May are owed an apology.
