To the Editor:
It is unfortunate what Marcus Karavan is bringing to the political scene in Middle Township. Looks a bit like our national political picture.
As a Cape May County political leader, he desperately wants this community’s job pool. His organization has become something of an employment agency for the well-connected in Cape May County. The wealth of lucrative appointments has transformed this once respected group into a bunch of horribly partisan job seekers.
So it could be turned into a political rally cry, the issue of who signed the petition for Pat Taylor demeans some of our community’s truly outstanding citizens. Worse is that Karavan now assures us he knows the motivation of the folks involved. My experience has shown that many in Karavan’s field do believe themselves to be mind readers. As an attorney he may well read all the fine print he encounters, most of us do not.
I signed Ms. Taylor’s petition to simply validate her candidacy. Others I have spoken to feel the same way. As the campaign unfolds, I will support whichever candidate I believe will defeat Dan Lockwood. To that end, I am hopeful Michael Clark and Taylor will do whatever is necessary to not allow Lockwood a victory by default.
We were advised Clark (more prophecy) aspired to higher office, while Lockwood and Timothy Donohue did not. Still, is there any reason to believe Lockwood does not want to follow in Donohue’s footsteps? Not only is Middle providing jobs for the politically connected, it is now one of the stepping stones to lucrative county appointments. When a man’s livelihood is dependent upon his politics, his every word must be measured accordingly. When another man wishes to join him, his motivation must be questioned with the same diligence.
Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
