Cape May County Revolutionary War Soldiers and Patriots is a new local history book written, after two years of extensive research, by Michael R. Houdart of Tuckahoe and Henry A. Heacock of Court House. Included in one single source, it is a comprehensive listing of our county’s soldiers and patriots. The book tells various stories of people, places and events in Cape May County during the Revolution. Included are stories about the infamous Tory, John Hatton, whose property was confiscated by local patriots, as well as the brave Stillwell sisters of Beesleys Point who repelled a British evading party and saved the citizens. The book also explains about the Privateers who patrolled our coast and protected the area from British ships. The book is available at the Cape May County Historical Museum, the Country Store at historic Cold Spring Village, and Sun Rose bookstore in Ocean City.
The Masterworks Choir of Ocean City is hosting a lunch, entertainment, and fundraising event on Nov. 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Sand Barrens Golf Club, 1765 Route 9 in Swainton. The event features a special presentation of the hilarious operetta, The True Story of Cinderella. The cost, a donation of $40 per person, includes social hour crudites, house salad, entree, and dessert. Chinese and silent auctions will be conducted for fundraising needed to cover performance expenses, which is a condition of funding through the NJ Council of the Arts.
