It’s time to talk turkey! The Turkey Trot – The Fast and the Furriest 5K Turkey Trot and One Mile Fun Run is set for Thanksgiving morning in Ocean City. The 5K Run/Walk and l mile Kids’ Fun Run will benefit the Ocean City Humane Society. Same-day registration takes place from 7 a.m. to 8:25 a.m. in front of the Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk. You may also pre-register online at www.active.com. The race will start at 8:30 a.m. Applications are available at the Aquatic and Fitness Center, The Sneaker Shop, 9th and Asbury Ave. and the Humane Society. For more information, call 398-5068.
Bring your pets to the Ocean City Humane Society on Dec. 7 for a photo op with Santa. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost per photo is $10, with the proceeds benefitting the work of the Society. An Old-Fashioned OC Downtown Christmas will be held Nov. 29 on Asbury Ave. from 2 to 5 p.m. Events include the arrival of Santa at 5 p.m. from the roof of City Hall, the Phillie Phanatic will be there at 4 p.m., the Ocean City Theater Co. will entertain, and Miss Winter Wonderland will be crowned. Have your picture taken with Santa at the Gazebo across from City Hall. Call 391-0240 for more information.
“Auld Lang Syne” Time Again for Anglers – The 9th Annual Last Cast Striper Tournament, sponsored by the Strathmere Fishing and Environmental Club, is being held Nov. 29 and 30. The entry fee is $20. Starting time is 6 a.m. Fri.; ending time is 5 p.m. on Saturday. One category, heaviest striper or blue, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. A Captains’ meeting will be held on Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m. at the Strathmere Firehouse. The Awards’ Barbecue will be held at the Firehouse on Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m. The Tournament is open to all members, non-members, friends, families, and guests. Annual Bach Festival – The Cape Shore Chorale will present Part One of Bach’s “Christmas Oratorio,” with guest soloists, at 3:00 p.m. on Dec. 1, at Grace Lutheran Church,
Shore Rd. at Dawes and Meyran Avenues in Somers Point. The concert will also include a performance of Michael Haydn’s “Missa Tempore Quadragesimae” and other seasonal pieces.
