July 4 Celebrations
Upper Township
The Independence Day Parade will be held on Sunday morning, July 4, in Strathmere. Registration will take place at the firehouse at 10 a.m.; judging will begin at 10:30 a.m. The parade will start on Commonwealth Ave. at Willard Rd. at 11 a.m., and end at the Deauville Inn, where refreshments will be provided and prizes will be awarded.

Fireworks will begin at dusk at Amanda’s Field Recreation Complex, Rt. 50 and Sunset Ave. in Petersburg. There will also be Carnival Games here from 6–9 p.m. with the funds supporting the Upper Township Lacrosse Recreation teams.
The rain date for the fireworks is Monday, July 5.

Ocean City Bike Parades – The Gardens Civic Association will hold its bike parade on Sat., July 3. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. at the Longport Bridge parking lot, and the parade will begin at 10 a.m.
The South Ocean City Improvement Association bike parade is set for Mon., July 5. Registration will take place at 9 a.m. at 40th and Asbury Ave., with the parade starting at 10 a.m.
Fireworks will be set off from a barge on Sun., July 4, beginning at 9 p.m. off the Ninth Street beach. Prior to this, there will be a kite-flying competition by Air Circus at 5:30 p.m. on the beach at Ninth St.

No fee tee time – The Ocean City Historical Museum is inviting kids of all ages to take part in its fifth annual Sindia Miniature Golf Day on Thurs., July 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pick up a ticket to play, at no charge, at the Historical Museum in the Cultural Community Center, 1735 Simpson Ave.
Play your free round of golf at Playland’s Seaport Village Golf Course on the Boardwalk between Ninth and 10th streets. For more information call 609-399-1801, or visit www.ocnjmuseum.org. This event is sponsored by Playland and the Exchange Club of Ocean City.

Local artists excel – Frank Pandolfo of Ocean City and Sarah Beth Groff of Ocean City and Pitman were among the winners in the June art competition sponsored by the Ocean City Fine Art League.
Groff won Best of Show and also Best in Watercolor category, while Pandolfo took honors in the Best in three-dimension category. The monthly competitions are open to all artists. For more information, call 609-814-0308.
