Halloween Happenings in Upper Township and Ocean City
Upper Township–Trick or Treat Night will be celebrated on Halloween night, Sun., Oct. 31, from 5-8 p.m.
Ocean City – The 40th annual Halloween Parade is set for Thurs., Oct. 28, at 7:15 p.m., starting at Sixth and Asbury Ave. and continuing to 11th and Asbury.
Trick or Treat at participating merchants in downtown OC on Sat., Oct. 30, from noon to 3 p.m., on Asbury Ave. from Sixth to 11th streets.
Trick or Treat Night throughout the city will be held on Sun., Oct. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Free hayrides continue on the Boardwalk from noon to 4 p.m. on Sat. and Sun., Oct. 30 and 31. Hop on the hayride at Sixth or 12th streets on the Boardwalk.
Free pumpkins will be given out to the children at the Children’s Pavilion, 11th and the Boardwalk. There will be trick or treating at those stores on the Boardwalk which have pumpkins outside.
Monster Dash – This event takes place on Halloween morning, Sun., Oct. 31. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the walk/run starts at 9 a.m. at the Music Pier on the Ocean City Boardwalk.
Runners will run south to the end of the boardwalk and back for 5K, while walkers will go north to the end of the boardwalk and back for two miles.
The fee is $25 for runners and walkers. The run/walk benefits the Upper Township U-14 Hurricanes girls’ traveling soccer team. Proceeds from the event will go towards their July 2011 Trip to the Donosti Cup, which is an international youth soccer tournament in Spain.

Chef Kalla cooks quiche and other breakfast foods including omelets, French toast, sausage, and various fruits on Sat. morning, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m., at the Cape May County Main Library.
Those attending this cooking demonstration will be invited to sample the food that has been prepared. Kalla developed the Avalon Anchorage Marina Restaurant, owned and operated the Barrier Island Inn Restaurant, and was the head chef for the Backyard Restaurant and Fishtails.
He is currently the Food Service Director of the Avalon Elementary School Cafeteria.
