Crawl, baby, crawl — The Sixth Street Beach in Ocean City will be the scene of the annual Pamper Scamper set for Tues., Aug. 9. Registration will start at 9 a.m., and the event will begin at 9:30 a.m.
Don’t let the parade pass you by – The 102nd Annual Ocean City Baby Parade will take place on Thurs., Aug. 11, at 10:15 a.m., on the Boardwalk, from Sixth to 12th Streets.
Seeing Double – A Twins’ Contest is set for Thurs., Aug. 11, in front of the Music Pier at Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk. Registration will begin at 6 p.m., and the event starts at 6:30 p.m.

“Sea Creatures with Amazing Features” – The Schiavo Library in Strathmere will host this Wetlands Institute program on Thurs., Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. The staff of the Wetlands will bring along local sea animals including sea stars, sea urchins, hermit crabs, spider crabs, green crabs, clams, sea snails, and a horseshoe crab. Their habitats, food chains, anatomy, and other topics will be discussed.
This is a program the whole family will enjoy, and all are invited to attend. The event will take place in the parking lot of the Schiavo Library, 801 Commonwealth Avenue. If you need additional information, please call the library at 609-486-6265.

Ocean Kayak Festival in Strathmere – The Upper Township Beach Patrol will hold its Ocean Kayak Festival on Sat., Aug. 13, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Spectators, beginners, and competitors are invited to spend a day on the beach to learn more about the sport and also compete. The race entry fee with a t-shirt is $20. Event admission is free, and all equipment will be supplied free for both the instruction sessions and races.
An addition this year is instruction and race for Stand Up Paddle Boards, supplied by Harbor Outfitters.
The festival will take place on the beach in Strathmere at Williams Avenue. Silent auction and awards ceremony will follow at Beach Patrol Headquarters

“Reel” fun for adolescent anglers – The 36th annual Boys and Girls’ Surf Fishing Tournament, co-sponsored by the Ocean City Fishing Club and the City Recreation Dept., will take place on Sat., Aug. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon at the North End Beach near the Ocean City-Longport Bridge. The rain date is Sat., Aug. 20.
The tournament is free, and registration will be held at the parking lot next to the bridge toll booth from 9 to 10 a.m. Boys and girls must bring their own bait and tackle. During the tournament, OCFC members will measure the catches and be available to offer instruction on how to cast and fish.
Prizes, donated by area merchants, will be award- ed for first, second, and third places to boys and girls in three age categories – 8 to 10 years; 11 to 13 years; and 14 to 16 years.
The Ocean City Fishing Club, founded in 1913, is the oldest continuously- operated fishing club in the nation.
