Upper Township – Staff Sergeant William Godfrey Memorial Park in Osprey Point, Seaville, will be the scene of the Fourth Annual Memorial Day Service, which will take place on Mon., May 30, at 9:30 a.m.
Taking part in the service will be VFW Post 8695 of Marmora, American Legion Post 239 of Tuckahoe, Boy Scout Troop 55 of Tuckahoe, and some township officials.
The program will include a Chaplain’s Prayer, Rifle Salute, and Taps will be played. Following the service, light refreshments will be served in the Club House. The Park is located at the entrance of Osprey Point, 173l Route 9. In the event of rain, the service will be moved to the Club House.
Ocean City – Veterans’ Memorial Park, 5th and Wesley Ave., will be the scene of the City’s Annual Memorial Day Service, on Monday, May 30, at 11 a.m. Taking part will be United Veterans Council of Ocean City, VFW Post 6650, American Legion Post 524, Boy Scout Troop 32, and Cub Scout Pack 51, also of Ocean City. In the event of inclement weather, the service will take place at the Tabernacle Auditorium, 5th and Wesley Ave.
Also, on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, at 9:15 a.m., lifeguards will row a short distance from the Moorlyn Terrace Beach and place a wreath on the ocean to honor the men and women who gave their lives for our country. Moorlyn Terrace is where the Music Pier is located.
The American Legion Auxiliary in Ocean City will hold a yard sale on Sat., May 28, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Post home, 3304 Bay Ave. Call 609-398-6480 for further information.

Coast Guard Flotilla 81 of Ocean City reports that National Safe Boating Week is being launched the week of May 27 to June 5, beginning with Memorial Day weekend. The Flotilla has scheduled two events in the Ocean City area, which include free vessel safety checks, boating safety information including classes, and more.
These events will take place on Sun., May 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Ocean Heights Marina, Egg Harbor Township; and Saturday, June 4, at All Seasons Marina, 34th St. Causeway into Ocean City.
