OC & Upper News Notes – 4 -27

By Rosemarie Whelan

The Boardwalk in Ocean City was the scene of the March of Dimes Annual March for Babies, South Jersey Shore, five mile walk held recently.
Dania Sargent of Vorhees, Executive Director, said that “our walk is the first walk for the State,” with others taking place on April 30 and May 1 at various locations throughout New Jersey.
As stated by the March of Dimes, “The most urgent infant health problem in the U.S. today is premature birth. It affects more than half a million babies each year, with the number growing every day.”
Michele DiSanto of Brigantine, Family Teams chair, became involved with the organization as her two children were born early and spent time in local hospitals in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit).
The bright, sunny day brought forth a meaningful and fulfilling afternoon for all.
Anna Villari of Mantua Township, the Community Director of the March of Dimes for Atlantic and Cape May Counties, summed up the significance of the day saying, “We’re walking together for stronger, healthier babies.”
