OC & UPPER NEWS NOTES – 3-21

By Rosemarie Whelan

“If I had known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself,” said George Moore of Upper Township, who was quoting a saying attributed to George Burns, among others. Moore, born in 1916, celebrated his 96th birthday last week. The event took place at the St. Patrick’s Day party of the Best of Life senior group at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Marmora.
“My grandmother told me all about Abraham Lincoln,” said Moore, recalling his grandmother who was born in 1848. He also enjoyed talking about watching the Philadelphia Athletics baseball team, and Moore added, “I saw Babe Ruth playing in Philadelphia when I was 10.”
The Best of Life group, from the Upper Township area and surrounding communities, meets the second Tuesday of the month in the Church Hall. New members are most welcome to join. For more information, please call Barbara Pinnock at 609-390-3751.
