And the winner is…Denise Fessler of Villas took home first place honors in the apple pie baking contest at the 11th annual Applefest sponsored by the Historical Preservation Society of Upper Township. Pies were rated on appearance, crust, and taste. Judges of the baking contest included Tyson Merryman, owner/operator of the Tuckahoe Inn; Deborah Patterson of the Gazette; and Johnny Appleseed, portrayed by Jake Williams.
Halloween Happenings in UT and OC
Upper Township will celebrate Halloween with Trick or Treating taking place on Halloween night, Mon., Oct. 31, from 5-8 p.m.

Poe is the show for a night full of fright – The Ocean City Repertory Theater presents Poe Evermore, highlighting some of Edgar Allan Poe’s most-chilling works including The Black Cat, The Tell-Tale Heart, The Cask of Amontillado, The Bells, Annabel Lee, The Raven, and more.
The theatrical performances will be done by candlelight, and there will be a dessert reception following the performances. Tickets are $10.
