The Mid- Atlantic 500,000 tournament was this past week. As always, the Webers out did them selves with the fishing event of the year. This year prizes were over one million-dollars. The excitement and the camaraderie at the weigh in and the enthusiasm at the dock can only be experienced by being there.
When these fishing yachts are backing down for their chance to weigh in, they are flying their flags (or referred to as their laundry). They currently have their moment in the spot light. All eyes are on them and the anticipation of seeing what they are weighing and to here Chris Booth shout out the weight of the fish, there’s nothing like it. Currently a tradition I would like to keep up. This being the 17th year, it just gets better every year. It is an event you should not miss if you enjoy fishing and boating. When I look down a dock, and I do it very year, it is just a beehive of activity of rigging and out riggers and a whole lot of busy fisherman.
I was chatting with a friend the other night, and he said he likes to go out fishing very five years just to make sure he don’t miss anything. I guess either you have the fishing gene or you do not.
At the Canyon Club, there is nothing but first class accommodations, and a staff that is just the best. Guy Harvey, the renowned marine artist is at the event every year and designs the tee-shits for the event.
In addition, he is on hand for autographs. There’s also a marlin biologist on hand to check the species of tuna that are caught by checking the gill plates. There was some rough weather this week but it didn’t stop the fishing and great time was had by all.
