Cape May Stage is proud to present the play Vanities, one of the longest-running shows in Off-Broadway history, now delighting audiences in an exclusive production at our award-winning Jersey Shore venue.

Written by Jack Heifner, a Drama Desk award-winning playwright, Vanities is a poignant and sharply witty comedy that traces the evolving friendship of three Texas women from their days as high school cheerleaders in the 1960s to their complicated adulthood in the 1970s. Set against two transformative decades in American culture, the play explores ambition, identity, and the changing dynamics of friendship with both heartfelt honesty and laugh-out-loud humor.

“This is a story about growing up, growing apart, and discovering who we are beyond the roles we play,” says Cape May Stage Producing Artistic Director Roy Steinberg. “Audiences will see themselves in these characters—it’s nostalgic, funny, and deeply human.”

Originally debuting Off-Broadway in 1976, Vanities enjoyed a record-setting run and has remained a favorite for its rich characters and honest storytelling. The Cape May Stage production features a dynamic cast and creative team, bringing fresh energy to this classic work in an intimate setting. Directed by Steinberg, it stars Equity professional actors Kyra Adams, Meredith Beck, and Elise Hudson.

Vanities runs from June 4 to June 29, with performances Wednesday through Saturday at 7 PM, and Sunday at 3 pm at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse, 405 Lafayette

Come experience the charm, drama, and humor of Vanities—a timeless tale of friendship that spans the decades.
