To the Editor:
I don’t believe the numbers the Ocean City officials say prompted the dull-witted ordinances passed to curb teen misbehavior. With the numbers, they created their own Reichstag fire. Are the numbers “voir dire?”
What they need is enforcement of tough laws. I suggest Ocean City obtain and use a big holding tank for drunk teens. Have the teens be given stiff fines that only their parents can pay in person. No-show parents mean their special kids Buffy and Biff stay in the tank until they do.
Use them to clean the beaches from First Street to the end. I’m not worried about the self-esteem of bad teens, just well-adjusted future citizens.
Now, unenlightened politicians include adults in their quagmire of bad ordinances. They need smarter elected officials and municipal attorneys.
