North Wildwood’s Dunes are Gone

By Barbara Cusamano

To the Editor:

Thank you for the article on the erosion of North Wildwood’s beaches. We are so far beyond just erosion. The dunes are basically gone, breaches have occurred three blocks from my street and, as residents, we are all very concerned.  If our mayor had not already built the bulkheads on JFK Boulevard, that street would already be underwater.

It would be interesting to know what is it exactly the DEP considers an emergency. Especially since no one seems to want to answer any questions. Is there a way to subpoena them to court to answer that question?

This to me has all the smell of some political motivation and taking a stance against a city, the people who live in it, and the mayor because they proceeded on work without approval. Yet if that work was not performed, that street would no longer exist.

I guess that is not enough of an emergency.
